Shower Chairs at Selby Hospital
7 OCTOBER 2024
Thanks to the generous donations from our supporters, the New Selby War Memorial Hospital’s Inpatient Unit has been able to purchase 14 new shower chairs for patients. These chairs will make a significant difference to patient independence and ensuring safer hygiene practices on the ward.
Patient hygiene is a key part of recovery, especially in a rehabilitation setting. With a shower chair now available in each bathroom, more patients can access the facilities safely and comfortably, encouraging them to take a more active role in their daily care. This is crucial in helping them regain their independence and progress towards returning home.
Staff had previously been sharing a limited number of chairs, which was challenging when trying to meet the needs of all patients. Now, the additional chairs ensure that everyone has access when needed, reducing risks and enhancing the quality of care.
Beth Parker, Occupational Therapist said;
“The chairs are a fantastic addition to the ward. It’s made such a difference for our patients to be able to shower safely and independently. We’re so grateful for the donations that made this possible!”
Public donations allow us to continue to make improvements in our hospitals, helping patients feel more confident during their rehabilitation journey.
