Improving Multiple Sclerosis Care Through Continued Learning
30 SEPTEMBER 2026

Julie Taylor, Advanced Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nurse, attended the MS Conference thanks to funding from York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity. The conference enabled her to stay at the forefront of developments in MS care and bring the latest learning back to patients across the Trust.
The theme of this year’s conference, ‘Embedding evidence into clinical practice’, focused on how new research findings can be translated into real world care more quickly and effectively. Sessions covered a wide range of topics including ageing with MS, symptom management and health inequalities, helping to support more personalised and holistic care for patients.
A key highlight of the event was Julie leading her own discussion group, where she chaired a session on ‘Advanced Clinical Practice in MS: The art of differentiation in complex consultations’. This provided an opportunity to explore how clinicians can make the most of increasingly complex consultations, as patients are living longer and often present with additional health conditions.
Reflecting on the impact of the conference, Julie said:
“From attending the conference, I have gained ideas that I can apply directly to my clinical practice including improving patient education and ensuring that care is tailored to the changing needs of people with MS. Attending the conference has supported my continuing professional development which will help me provide more informed and evidence-based care within my role”
