Educational toys, sensory equipment and learning materials for speech and language development
23 SEPTEMBER 2026

As a Speech and Language Therapist, Hannah Knowles works closely with children, parents and teachers. Alongside her team, they deliver clinics, run workshops, and visits schools to help children develop their speech and language skills.
York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity has supported Hannah and her colleagues to raise money in order to buy learning materials and sensory toys for the Speech and Language Therapy Team. This will provide opportunities to learn through play whilst developing their speech and language.
Hannah said:
“Many children require physical movement in the ‘Connect and Communicate’ groups we run. The peanut ball helps them to do this as well as regulate their sensory systems before they can focus on speech.
“We run regular clinics and attend nurseries and schools daily as well as supporting families in their homes. The children love playing the games and are learning through play. The toys bring joy to the sessions as well as supporting engagement. The parents also like to see their children progress and gain ideas of how they can use the toys at home to support their child's language development.
“Thank you to York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity for the continued support to the Speech and Language Therapy Team.”
