Office chairs for ward nurses Selby Immediate Care Ward

York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity is delighted to have funded new ergonomic staff chairs for use across Selby’s Immediate Care Ward. This initiative was introduced to improve comfort, posture support, and staff wellbeing during long shifts, contributing to better patient care.
Ward teams often spend extended periods seated while completing essential tasks such as documentation, patient observations, medication preparation, and multidisciplinary discussions. Historically, the ward was using older or mismatched chairs that no longer provided adequate support.
Although the chairs were provided for staff, their impact extended to patients. A more comfortable workforce is more alert, productive, and better able to provide attentive care. Staff reported feeling less physically drained, particularly during busy periods and long shifts.
