3 Day Dermatology conference
6 MAY 2026

York & Scarborough Hospital Charity funded a three‑day dermatology conference for Rachael Sheilds, Skin Cancer Specialist Nurse Practitioner. The event took place at the Harrogate Convention Centre and brought together dermatology professionals from across the country.
The conference provided Rachael with the chance to network with fellow specialist nurses, attend consultant‑led workshops, explore the latest clinical innovations, and engage with exhibitors showcasing new dermatology technologies and products.
Throughout the three days, attendees shared experiences and discussed best practices, including innovative clinic models designed to reduce patient waiting times and ease pressure on clinical teams.
Rachael reflected on the value of the opportunity, sharing:
“The course is a fantastic opportunity to develop my learning and knowledge. It’s brilliant to be supported by the charity in allowing me to understand new technologies and to speak to other national Specialist Nurses. Hearing of successful clinics reducing patients’ waiting times and relieving pressure from staff is so reassuring.
Thank you to York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity for the support to myself and then the team as I am able to take my learning back to them.”
By supporting Rachael’s attendance, the charity has helped strengthen specialist dermatology knowledge within the Trust, enabling skills and insights gained at the conference to be shared across the wider team, ultimately improving care for local patients.
