New TVs for Selby Immediate Care Ward
11 MARCH 2026

Selby War Memorial Hospital’s Immediate Care Ward has recently completed a full upgrade of its television facilities, significantly improving the experience of both patients and staff. All bedside televisions have been replaced, providing free viewing access for every patient. In addition, a larger mobile television has been introduced for use in the communal room, serving both recreational and training purposes.
The introduction of these new TVs ensures that all patients can benefit from visual stimulation and enjoy familiar comforts during their stay. Free access removes barriers to use, helping ensure that no patient is excluded from the social or entertainment opportunities the televisions provide.
Kathryn Clements, Ward Administration Officer, said: “It is incredible being able to have TVs above each bed. Patients have found this very comforting and entertaining. We have also had training sessions on the larger TV with wheels. The staff are also able to get access to learning materials, which is much better than trying to crowd round a computer screen."
“We are so thankful for the support we have received from York & Scarborough Hospital Charity. We feel incredibly fortunate to have their support, for both patients and staff.”
