Organ Donation Gift of Life Event, Scarborough Hospital

Thanks to generous donations, the Critical Care team at Scarborough Hospital were able to host a heartfelt Organ Donation Gift of Life event on the terrace of the unit during Organ Donation Week.
Held on 26th September, the event honoured families whose loved ones had donated their organs, incredible gifts that have helped many people live longer, healthier lives.
Hannah Davis, Deputy Sister in Critical Care, explained, “As link nurses for organ donation, we wanted to recognise the families we’ve supported over the years. We invited them to spend the afternoon together, sharing memories and connecting with others who’ve experienced similar journeys.”
Each family received a personalised candle with their loved one’s name, which was presented in an organza bag as a keepsake. Homemade treats, tea and coffee were also served, creating a warm and reflective atmosphere.
Hannah added “Thanks to the funding, we were able to create a meaningful and personal experience for families. It was a beautiful afternoon filled with connection and remembrance, and we’re so grateful to everyone who made it possible.”
