Patient Chairs, Critical Care, York Hospital
29 AUGUST 2025
Thanks to generous donations, the Physiotherapy Team in Critical Care at York Hospital has been able to purchase five patient high back chairs and they are already making a big difference.
Alexandra Ward, Critical Care Physiotherapist explained “These specially designed chairs support early patient mobility and rehab. They’re high-backed with ergonomic support for the head and lower back, perfect for patients who don’t need specialist seating.
“The chairs also feature adjustable-height arms, making them more inclusive for patients who’ve previously struggled to find suitable seating, including amputee and paraplegic patients. The design also makes it easier to transfer from bed to chair, supporting rehab and helping patients sit out for meals or therapy.
“Thanks to the donors who have made the purchase of these chairs possible.”
