See ME First Badges
24 JULY 2025

Thanks to your donations York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity has funded ‘See ME First badges’.
Fatima Kuddus, Workforce Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer explained “Approximately 15% of the Trust is made up of ethnically diverse people and most are patient facing.
“The See ME First initiative directly benefits patients by fostering a more inclusive and respectful healthcare environment. When ethnically diverse staff feel supported, it enhances staff morale which means they are better equipped to provide high quality care. This leads to improved communication, trust, and patient satisfaction, ensuring that all patients receive compassionate and equitable care regardless of their background.”
Colleagues can show their support for the See ME First initiative by pledging their commitment to equality at work, and as a result will receive the See ME First badge to wear on their lanyard.
The Trust has several staff networks which have been set up to represent and offer support to members of staff from a wide variety of backgrounds. There is a Carer’s Staff Network, Enable Network, LGBTQ+ Network, Race Equality Network, Veterans Network and Women’s Network. Many of the groups have been supported by York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity.
