Education Bursary, Menopause Training
3 JUNE 2025

York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity funds an annual Education Bursary for staff across the Trust. Employees are encouraged to apply for the York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity Education Bursary, which has two openings each year and is aimed at enhancing the development of employees. The applicant must articulate how the knowledge and skills gained will improve their competence and also demonstrate the improvement to patient care or experience.
Gemma Barlow, Surgical Care Practitioner, has completed the ‘Management of the Menopause’ certificate. Gemma explained “I have been part of the breast care team for 11 years and I have a great interest in hormone changes in patients and wanted a greater level of understanding to help my patients. My goal is to set up a specific menopause clinic for breast care patients and provide them as much support and guidance as possible.
“A menopause specific clinic has never been held before and I would love to make this happen.
“I would like to thank York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity for the opportunity to undertake the course.”
