Education Bursary, Menopause Training

York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity funds an annual Education Bursary. Trust employees are encouraged to apply for the bursary which aimed at enhancing the development of employees. The applicant must articulate how the knowledge and skills gained will improve their competence and capability whilst improving patient care and experience
Gemma Barlow, Surgical Care Practitioner has completed the ‘Management of the menopause’ certificate. Gemma explained “I have been part of the breast care team for 11 years and I have a great interest in hormone changes in patients and wanted a greater level of understanding to help them. My goal is to set up a specific menopause clinic for breast care patients and provide them as much support and guidance as possible.
“A menopause specific clinic has never been done before and I would love to make this happen.
“I would like to thank the charity for this opportunity to undertake the course.”
