York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity has funded the creation of comfort packs specifically designed for families who are staying with loved ones during their final days. The comfort packs offer essential items to help ease the burden on families, offering not only physical comforts but also emotional support during one of the most challenging times a family can face.
Often, loved ones spend long hours in the hospital, sometimes overnight, in an environment that can be stressful and overwhelming.
The packs include:
Personal care items: Toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, a flannel, a comb and deodorant to allow family members to freshen up during long hospital visits
Refreshments: A food and beverage voucher is included to keep loved ones nourished and hydrated during their stay
A blanket: A small, soft blanket to provide comfort while sitting by their loved one's bedside
Relaxation tools: Soothing hand creams, to help calm and relax family members
Each comfort pack is given to families when their loved one is admitted into end-of-life care. The goal is to provide a small yet meaningful gesture that eases some of the challenges families face, allowing them to focus on what truly matters in their final days together.
