A memorial golf day hosted by local resident Andy Charlton has celebrated its sixth year by raising an incredible £7,043 for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity to support the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at York Hospital.

Held in memory of Andy's late brother Steve, the NC72 Golf Day has now raised a remarkable £22,624 since it began six years ago, with golfers, local businesses, friends and family coming together each year to support the unit.

This year's event took place at Aldwark Manor golf course and once again saw supporters enjoy a day of golf and fundraising. The golf day has grown in significance year after year, with its continued success driven by a dedicated team effort. Alongside Andy, Tony and Gary Raper, Lorraine Corson and Peter Charlton all played an important role in ensuring the event ran smoothly from start to finish.

What began as a tribute to Steve has grown into a much-loved annual event, raising vital funds to support patients and families receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit, as well as the staff who care for them.

Becky White, Community Fundraiser at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said: "We're so grateful to Andy and everyone who has supported the NC72 Golf Day over the past six years. Raising more than £22,000 is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful tribute to Steve's memory. The continued generosity and support of everyone involved helps make a real difference to patients, families and staff within the Intensive Care Unit at York Hospital."
