Swimmers raise over £1,900 at Great North Swim challenge
29 JUNE 2026

Three dedicated swimmers recently took part in the one-mile challenge at the iconic Great North Swim in Lake Windermere, collectively raising over £1,900 for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity.
Taking part in the open water event, they embraced the challenge to support the charity’s mission to enhance patient care and staff wellbeing across the Trust.
Natalie Marriott, Events Fundraiser for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said:
"We’re incredibly proud of our swimmers for taking on the Great North Swim this year. Completing a one-mile open water swim is a huge achievement, and to raise such a fantastic amount on top of that is incredible. Their support will make a real difference to patients, families and staff across our hospitals."
The Great North Swim continues to offer a fantastic opportunity for supporters to push themselves physically while fundraising for a cause close to their hearts, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Lake District.
The money raised will help to fund improvements to hospital environments and services above and beyond NHS funding at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
