Marathon pair host Scarborough fundraiser for hospital baby unit
29 JANUARY 2026

York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity is encouraging local people and businesses to buy tickets for a fundraising night in March, as two brothers-in-law prepare to run the London Marathon in support of the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Scarborough Hospital.
Joe Logan and Jordan Mintoft will be running the marathon in April, aiming to raise £5,000 between them for SCBU. The pair are no strangers to fundraising for the unit, having already raised nearly £10,000 in the past.
To help reach their latest target, Joe and Jordan are hosting a fundraising event at Scarborough Rugby Club on Friday 6 March, with a full evening planned for supporters to enjoy.
Guests can look forward to live music, food, a raffle, and an auction, with plenty of opportunities to get involved and help raise vital funds. Tickets cost £20 per person, or £200 for a table of 10.
Joe and Jordan have supported SCBU for years after Joe’s daughters - Jordan’s nieces –, Amelia, Paige and Phoebe received exceptional care from the team. The girls are now thriving, and the family is determined to give something back to help other families in the future.
Joe Logan said: “We are proud to represent York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity at this year’s London Marathon.
“We knew straight away that we wanted to support the Special Care Baby Unit after the incredible care they gave to our three daughters, Amelia, Phoebe and Paige. When Paige, one of our twins, took a turn for the worse, the team were unbelievable. They supported not just Nicola and me, but our seven-year-old too, during a really scary time. Thankfully, the girls are doing great now, and I hope the money we raise helps make that journey a little bit easier for the next family.”
As well as welcoming individuals and groups, the charity is also encouraging local businesses to get involved, with sponsorship opportunities available for the event.
