York Ghost Merchants Charity Raffle raises £13,479 for Neonatal Unit
15 JANUARY 2026
The Ghost Merchants in York have generously donated £13,479 to York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity following their latest charity raffle in support of the Tiny Lives Appeal.
The fundraising began when the York Ghost Merchant Community Group raffled a donated original York Ghost, raising £554 for the Children’s Ward at York Hospital. Building on this success, the Ghost Merchants chose the Tiny Lives Appeal as their final charity raffle of the year.
The raffle saw six ghost messengers from the latest release to be won, each featuring gold highlights and stamped with the Ghost Merchants charity heart and anchor.
The Tiny Lives Appeal aims to raise £100,000 to create a more comforting, family-friendly Neonatal Unit at York Hospital. The Neonatal Unit, previously known as the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), is currently undergoing a £2 million refurbishment to create a state-of-the-art space for babies and better facilities for families. The Tiny Lives Appeal will fund extra equipment and furnishings that will make the unit a calmer, more comforting, and family-friendly space.

Becky White, Community Fundraiser at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said ‘We would like to thank The York Ghost Merchants for their fantastic support through their charity Raffall. We are thrilled with the amount raised that will help us fund the extras that make a big difference, like specialist equipment and family-focused facilities in the refurbished Neonatal Unit at York Hospital.
